Book Editorial Reviews:

Death in the Air: The Boy Sherlock Holmes, His Second Case--- From School Library Journal
Grade 6–8—This sequel to Eye of the Crow
(Tundra, 2007) continues as Sherlock Holmes, 13, tries to prove his worth to Scotland Yard and become "a new sort of London detective, the scourge of every villain." Witnessing the tragic fall of a famous trapeze artist, he utilizes his limited resources, including a new mentor who happens to be a brilliant alchemist, and his own deductive skills to convince others that the fall was no accident. Sherlock pursues the case doggedly, even enlisting the help of a young street boss named Malefactor. The book ends with the young protagonist determined to survive alone, distancing himself from all friends. This is an exciting mystery, well written and fast paced, but reluctant readers may have a hard time adjusting to the language.—Jessica Miller, New Britain Public Library, CT

Review
Praise for Death in the Air:

“Peacock continues his literary derring-do in the second Sherlock Holmes novel, Death in the Air
, as suspenseful and riveting as the first book….The crafty turns and twists of this mystery adventure only intensify from the sensational opening, so that you can’t turn the pages fast enough….Peacock’s writing, smart, lithe, and assured, is perfectly attuned to readers in its accessibility and appeal…” —The Ottawa Citizen

Praise for Eye of the Crow

“a thrilling, impeccably paced murder mystery.”

About [Books] Death in the Air: The Boy Sherlock Holmes, His Second Case by S_Singer's review
THe History of Holmes continued
As a big Sherlock Holmes fan when I was a kid, I was initially suspicious of anyone trying to imitate the master.Shane Peacock has done just that - what a great way to introduce a new generation to the inimitable Holmes. In much the way Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson have given us insight into the origins of Peter Pan in Peter and the Starcatchers Peacock explores the origins of Sherlock Holmes in his second adolescent mystery.Don't miss this one!!
